Beamond End

Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire

Case Study

PROJECT SUMMARY

A full design and planning project for Ugly Duckling, we worked with the existing footprint to transform a tired chalet style house into a spacious coachhouse style family home. Set in a quiet rural hamlet, the Ugly Duckling design added country charm and character in abundance.

Working closely with Bucks/Chiltern Planning, AONB and mindful of the village design statement, the exterior of the property was completely transformed with a mix of heritage style weatherboard and render to the walls including new timber windows. The new roof was completed with classic clay tiles. All the materials were sourced locally.

The interior transformation created a super size open plan, kitchen/dining/family area with full width sliding doors for light creating a seamless flow between family area and garden. The single garage was transformed into a family size laundry and boot room with stable door to the garden. The carefully planned interior spaces led to a generous high ceilinged entrance and gallery staircase. Extra large gabled windows allowed for plenty of light to flood in to the bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. The master suite transformation enjoyed delightful dual aspect views.

A welcoming oak beam porch and charming front door completed the look.
